1. Who we are
Mon Chiot is a portal that connects families with responsible, verified dog breeders across Québec and Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the portal, why we collect it, and what rights you can exercise, in accordance with Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25.
2. The portal's role
Mon Chiot presents listings published by independent breeders. We are not a party to the transaction between you and a breeder: when you contact a breeder, you communicate with them directly, and any information you share with them at that point is governed by their own practices, not by this policy.
3. Person responsible for the protection of personal information
Any request regarding your personal information can be sent to our privacy officer, reachable at info@monchiot.ca.
4. Information we collect
| Information | Why | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Email ("Notify me" alert) | Let you know when a new litter is posted | Until you withdraw consent |
| Search filters (breed, region) | Show relevant results during your visit | Current session only |
| Site analytics data | Understand which pages are viewed | 14 months |
The portal itself does not collect or transmit your contact details to a breeder: you choose to share them by contacting the breeder directly. We do not collect any sensitive information and never ask for banking details through this site.
5. Cookies and measurement technologies
No analytics cookie is set before your explicit consent. The banner shown on your first visit lets you accept or decline, and declining is as easy as accepting. You can revisit your choice at any time using the "Cookies" button at the bottom of every page.
Cookies strictly necessary for the portal to function — remembering your consent choice, for example — are set without consent, as the law allows.
6. Disclosure to third parties
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. Breeders featured on the portal do not have access to your information until you contact them yourself.
7. Hosting and place of processing
This site is hosted on a server located in Canada. Should a provider need to process your information outside Québec, we would first carry out the privacy factor assessment required by Law 25.
8. Your rights
- Access — obtain a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Rectification — have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected.
- Withdrawal of consent — withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting a request already in progress.
- Deletion — request deletion of information whose purpose has been fulfilled.
- Portability — receive your information in a structured, commonly used technological format.
- Complaint — file a complaint with Québec's Commission d'accès à l'information if our response does not satisfy you.
We respond to any request within a maximum of 30 days.
9. Security
The portal is served entirely over HTTPS. In the event of a privacy incident posing a risk of serious harm, we would notify affected individuals as well as the Commission d'accès à l'information, as required by law.
10. Changes
Any change to this policy will be published on this page, with a revised update date.
