How It Works

A family's journey, from the first search to the puppy's arrival home — and how we vet every breeder before publishing them on the portal.

The buyer journey

Nothing happens without you.

The portal makes the introduction — the relationship, the visit and the decision stay between you and the breeder.

1. Search by breed and region

Filter listings by breed, availability status and region — Québec or Ontario. Results are sorted by freshness: recently posted litters appear first, never the ones whose breeder paid to be ranked higher.

2. Discover verified breeders

Every listing shows the same standardized fields: breed, sex, colour, date of birth, price, vaccinations, microchip and papers. No surprises, no information hidden behind a mandatory first contact.

3. Contact the breeder directly

You communicate with the breeder — not a call centre, not a broker. They answer your questions, arrange a visit and confirm the reservation. Mon Chiot never takes a commission on the transaction.

4. Welcome your puppy

Your puppy goes home vaccinated, microchipped and with papers in hand, per the arrangement made directly with the breeder. The portal stays available if you want to report an issue or leave feedback on your experience.

Trust & verification

What "responsible" actually means.

A responsible breeder isn't just someone who loves dogs — it's someone willing to be transparent.

Documented health

Genetic screenings and veterinary exams for breeding dogs, shared on request — not just promised.

Verified conditions

Litters raised in a home environment, socialized, with a reasonable number of litters per year. No puppy mills.

Up-to-date listings

Availability statuses are updated by the breeder; listings inactive for too long are removed from the portal.

No pay-to-rank

Our fairness promise: a breeder's position in the results depends on listing freshness, never on payment.

Direct contact

No middleman filters your exchanges with the breeder — you talk to the person who actually raises the puppies.

Welfare first

Breeders who refuse a visit before adoption or pressure a quick decision are removed from the portal upon report.

Spotting a red flag

What a responsible breeder never does.

Even with a verified breeder, a few signals deserve your attention. A responsible breeder will never stop you from:

  • meeting the mother (and ideally the father) before adoption;
  • visiting the place where the puppies live;
  • asking about the parents' health testing;
  • taking your time to decide without pressure for an immediate deposit.

If a profile on Mon Chiot seems to work around these principles, you can report it to info@monchiot.ca.

Frequently asked questions

What we're asked the most.

No. Mon Chiot is a matchmaking portal, not an online shop. The reservation, deposit and contract happen directly with the breeder, on their own terms.

Every candidate breeder fills out a detailed profile (breeds, breeding conditions, health screenings) that is reviewed before publication. Incomplete profiles or ones that raise concerns are not published.

No. The listed price is set by the breeder and paid in full to the breeder. The portal takes nothing from the transaction between you and them.

Featuring follows the same rule as the rest of the portal: listing freshness and diversity of regions and breeds shown. No breeder can pay to appear on the homepage.

Partner breeders commit to replying promptly. If a profile stays silent for several days, write to us at info@monchiot.ca — we follow up and remove inactive profiles.

For now, Mon Chiot focuses on Québec and Ontario to ensure serious vetting of every breeder. Expansion to other regions is being considered as the network grows.
